The Vampire Lestat *Completed*

The Vampire Lestat
by Anne Rice
I am continuing on my journey through the novels of Anne Rice with this novel, The Vampire Lestat. I've read this book previously, I'm guessing around ten years ago. I also have the graphic novel version which I plan to read after I finish the novel.
**Update** [6/21/06]
Now I remember why I was so obsessed with this book when I was in high school. It's amazing. I love the detail in which it's written and the obvious theme of struggle with loosing faith in religion. The first time I read it was when I was really starting to question the religion I had been born into and organized religion in general. It's sad knowing that'll she'll never write another book about Lestat again.
**Update** [7/3/06]
I stayed up late just so I could finish. Though I've come to realize I placed the books in the wrong order. There are at least three other books I should have read first. Oh well. I'm glad I read it "early".
I don't love Lestat as much as I did the first time I read it but enjoy how she can so easily tell the story from two different perspectives [Interview with the Vampire vs. The Vampire Lestat].
My favorite part about this book is the Egyptian mythology and the beautifully writing history of the vampires. It was my first introduction to Egyptian mythology which later led me to fall in love with Isis and Osiris. This will always remain one of my favorite books and one of the most beautifully written stories.
